Patna : World No 1 abd dfending champion Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, suffered a shock defeat at Halle Open tennis, an tp 500 Grass Court event in Germany, to World No 34 Borna Coric, 21, Croatia, in the final on June 24, 2018. Coric stunned Federer 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, to win the Halle Open denying him his 10th title at the tournament. Federer’s defeat means he will lose his World No 1 position to Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain. Federer served 12 Aces in the match to Coric’s 11. Coric won 2 break points while Federer won just 1. Coric also won 4 games in a row compared to Federer’s 3. Federer had recently won the Stuttgart Open, an ATP 250 Grass Court event in Germany.
