Ara : Irate villagers and family members blocked Ara-Buxar main road near village Dhamar under Gajrajganj Police Putpost in Bhojpur district on July 16, 2018, after the murder of a labourer. They put the body on the road, burnt tyres and paralysed movement of vehicles since morning demanding compensation to next of kin of the deceased and arrest of his killers at the earliest. The blockade was lifted after 4 hours after positive response from police officials. Later, police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem.

Sub-Inspector, Gajrajganj Police Outpost, Jang Bahadur Singh, said that three armed persons stabbed a labour, Dharmendra Paswan, 30, son of Ramadhar Paswan at village Chitkudi Bara on July 16 morning and later shot him dead when he was going to his place of work. A named FIR has been lodged with Gajrajganj police outpost against three persons but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. Personal enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident.

Meena Devi, family member of the deceased, said that some people were firing in the air at a marriage ceremony at the village on April 26, 2018, and Dharmendra Paswan had tried to persuade them not to fire which led to heated exchange between him and those firing.
