Patna : England beat India by 8 wickets in the 3rd ODI at Headlingley, Leeds, on July 17, 2018, night, riding on a superb unbeaten 100 in 120 ball with 10 fours by Joe Root and an unbeaten 88 in 108 ball with 9 fours and a six by captain Eoin Morgan. England won the three-match ODI series 2-1 having won the 2nd ODI too. Root had also scored century in the 2nd ODI.

England won the toss but opted to bowl. India scored 256/8 in 50 overs with captain Virat Kohli scoring 71 in 72 ball with 8 fours and Shikhar Dhawan making 44 in 49 ball with 7 fours. Rohit Sharma was out for 2 while Suresh Raina was out for 1. Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, and Bhuvaneshwar made 21 each while Shardul Thakur remained not out on 22 with 2 sixes. M S Dhoni made 42 in 66 ball.

Chasing a target of 257 to win, England made 260/2. James Vince was run out for 27 while Jonny Bairstow made 32 in 13 ball hiiting 7 fours. Indian bowlers did not bowl well in the match. Only Shardul Thakur was able to take a wicket in the match.
