Ara : Gang rape and murder of a middleage Mahadalit woman at village Khopira village under Pawana police station in Bhojpur district is now acquiring political colour. Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on July 19, 2018, visted Khopira and consoled the bereaved family. He also assured all possible help to them.
Manjhi while talking to the mediapersons held CM Nitish Kumar responsible for deteriorating law and order in Bihar. He said that no one particularly women and people of lower classes feel safe in Nitish regime though the CM projects himself as ‘susashan Babu.’ Manjhi said the people will give him a befitting reply in the next Lok Sabha election and also in the assembly election in 2020.
It may be mentioned here that a middleage woman Kajal Devi, wife of Nand Kumar Musahar of Khopira village under Pawana police, was gangraped on July 17, 2018, night, and was thrashed till she fell unconscious. On July 18, 2018, the family members admitted her to Sadar Hospital, Ara, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment the same day. Police, however, arrested the three accused : Pramod Musahar, Shankar Musahr and Ram Babu Paswan of village Maniachchh within 48 hours of incident and sent them to jail after interrogation.
