Ara : Three minor girls drowned to death inĀ  river Son at village Gyanpur-Semaria under Koelwar police station on September 13, 2018, afternoon. The bodies were fished out on September 14. Police brought the bodies over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for postmortem.

An FIR has also been lodged with Koelwar police station in this regard. Bhojpur district administration gave Rs 2 lakh to family of each deceased. The deceased were identified as Lali Kumari, 8, daughter of Lalak Bin, Neha Kumari, 10, and Baby Kumari, 8, daughters of Preet Bin of village Gyanpur-Semaria.

SHO, Koelwar police station, said that Lali Kumari, Neha Kumari, and Baby Kumari had gone to Gyanpur Dam near their village on September 13 afternoon to pluck vegetables but they slipped and fell into swollen Sone river. A minor boy, who saw all these, immediately informed the villagers who rushed to the spot and tried to locate the girls but in vain. The villagers also informed police who reached the spot without delay and requisitioned divers but they failed to rescue the girls. The search campaign was stopped due to darkness. On September 14 morning, the search campaign once again started and the divers fished out bodies of all the three girls trapped in a ditch in the middle of the river.

Circle Officer, Koelwar, Sanjeev Kumar said that after the recovery of the bodies of the girls, the Bhojpur district administration gave cheques of Rs 2 lakh to each of the deceased family.
