Patna : India inflicted a crushing defeat on arch rival Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2018 ODI match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on September 19, 2018, racing away to victory by 8 wickets riding on 86 run partnership between opener Rohit Sharma ( Captain) and Shikhar Dhawan for the first wicket. Rohit, the hitman, scored 52 in 39 ball with 6 fours and 3 sixes one of them being 96m long. It was his fastest ODI fifty made in 36 ball.
Dhawan made 46 in 54 ball hitting 6 fours and a six. Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 31 in 37 ball with 2 fours and a six while Ambati Rayudu remained not out on 31 in 46 ball with 3 fours. Karthik and Rayudu were involved in a 60 run partnership for the third wicket. Chasing a target of 163, India made 164/2 in 29 overs. India scored 58 runs in the first 10 overs ( power play). Rohit and Dhawan sent all the Pakistani fast bowlers to cleaners.
Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Pakistan were all out for 162 runs in 43.1 overs with Babar Azam scoring 47 and Shoaib Malik getting out for 43.
For India, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav took three wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also took a wicket.
