Ara : Hundreds of Asha and Mamata workers took out a procession from Ramana Maidan, Ara, that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and reached Ara railway station on December 27, 2018, on the 27th day of their indefinite strike to press their 12-point demand including remuneration up to Rs 180,00 per month, status of government employee, and better living and service condition.

They squatted on the railway track paralysing the movement of trains for about an hour. They stoppedĀ  Buxar – Patna passenger at Ara railway station on Danapur Division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur. They boarded the train engine raising slogans against Bihar government. As a result, a number of long distance trains remained stranded at different railway stations under Danapur Division. They also locked the Primary Health Centres, Referral Hospitals, Additional Primary Health Centres under all the 14 blocks in Bhojpur district on December 27 and demonstrated there.

The Asha and Mamata workers are on indefinite strike since December 1, 2018, under the banner of Asha Sangharsh Samiti to press their 12 point demand. The patients are harried lot as health services under all the 14 blocks in Bhojpur district has remained considerably affected for 27 consecutive days due to indefinite strike.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangita Singh and Indu Singh, Asha workers, said that the government has been spending crores of rupees on salary of the MLAs, MLCs, MPs but remains indifferent to their problems They claimed Bihar is leading in health sector due to hard work of Asha and added that their agitation would continue till their demands were conceded.
