Patna : Chasing a target of 323 runs, Australia were 104/4 in 49 overs at stumps on day 4 in their second innings in the first test against India at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia, with Shaun Marsh batting on 31 in 92 balls with 3 fours and Travis Head batting on 11 in 37 balls with one four. Australia need to score 219 runs more on the fifth and final day of the match to win the test.

Openers Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris scored 11 and 26 runs respectively while Usman Khwaja was out for 8. Peter Handscomb scored 14. For India, Mohammad Shami took 2/15 while spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 2/44.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 151/3, India were all out for 307 in 106.5 overs with Cheteshwar Pujara scoring 71 with 9 fours and Ajinkya Rahane 70 with 7 fours. Rohit Sharma was out for just 1 run while wicketkeeper Rishabh pant scored 28 with 4 fours and a six.

For Australia, spinner Nathan Lyon took 6/122 while fast bowler Mitchell Starc took 3/40. Vice-captain Josh Hazlewood took 1/43.

India had scored 250 in their first innings while Australia were all out for 235 in their first innings.
