Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : After a gap of 15 years, 210 journalists members of Dhanbad in Jharkhand including photographers and staff of electronic media will be electing office bearers for Dhanbad Press club which goes to poll on December 10, 2017, at local Gandhi Seva Sadan.
Fortyone members of the club are in the fray for different posts including the President, General Secretary, a Senior vice president, 5 vice presidents, five secretaries and 7 executive members while one post of treasurer has been filled by D K Paswan, who was elected unopposed as only one nomination was filed for this post.
For the prestigious post of President, Sanjiv Jha is contesting against Ramji Yadav while for the post of General secretary Shashi Bhushan, Pankaj Kumar, Ajay Jha and Balram Dubey are in fray.
For the single post of Senior vice president, four candidates: Asit Sahay, Nitesh Mishra, Jaidev Gupta and Bhupendra Shrivastav are in contest while for the post of 5 vice presidents nine candidates: Niraj Kumar, Gangesh Gunjan, Sudhira Sinha, Navin Rai, Dilip Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Shravan Kumar, Kundan Singh and Dilip Vishwakarma are in contest.
For five posts of Secretary, eight members: Gautam Dey, Ashish Jha, Ravikant, Manoj Sharma, Ashish Ambastha, Satyaraj, Vidyut Verma and Jitendra Kumar have filed their nominations.
Fourteen candidates namely Praduman Choubey, Niraj Kumar, Mohan Gope, Surendra Yadav, Pratik Kumar, Ashok Jha, Prakash Mishra, Umesh Paswan, Mahfuj Alam, Chotey Khan, Rammurty Pathak, Vijay Mishra, Prakash Kumar and Chadan Pal are contesting for the seven posts of executive members will be elected.
Four senior journalists including Anil Ashutosh have been nominated as observers to ensure free and fair elections on December 10 from 9 am to 3.30 pm and the results will be declared the same day.
