Buxar : Circle Officer, Buxar,  Satyendra Singh, on the direction of Buxar DM cum District Election Officer, Raghvendra Singh, on March 31, 2019, late evening, instituted an FIR against at least 150 persons including two named : Buxar MP and Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Buxar district BJP President Rana Pratap Singh, in connection with alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC). SHO, Buxar Town police station, Avinash Kumar said that the FIR has been lodged and police are investigating into the matter.

After being re-nominated as BJP candidate from Buxar parliamentary constituency, Union Minister and sitting MP Ashwini Kumar Choubey reached Buxar on March 30, 2019, evening, and offered prayer at Brahmeshwar Nath temple, Brahmpur, in Buxar district and later reached Quila Maidan in a carcade to address a public meeting. The carcade included more vehicles than permitted under Model Code of Conduct. He allegedly also continued the meeting even after expiry of time fixed for it.

On getting information, SDO, Buxar, Krishna Kumar Upadhayay, and SDPO Satish Kumar reached the meeting venue and queried from Choubey about the number of vehicles in his carcade and also apprised him of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. At this, Choubey allegedly lost his temper and got into a verbal duel with the officials and later left the place with his supporters.

The Election Commission of India took serious note of the incident and Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar, H R Srinivas, sought a report from the District Election Officer in this regard. Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar, Balamurugan D had said that after reviewing the report, legal action might be taken.
