Patna : The third test between India and Sri Lanka ended in a draw at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi, on December 6, 2017, as the Indian bowlers failed to take the seven wickets the team required to win the test. India won the three-match test series 1-0 having won the second test at Nagpur by an innings and 239 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 3/81.

With this series win against Sri Lanka,  India Captain Virat Kohli has won nine consecutive series victory for the country as captain since 2015 equaling former Australia Captain Ricky Ponting’s record. Kohli was declared Man of Match as well as Man of the Series

Set a target of 409 to win the third test and level the series 1-1, Sri Lanka ended the fifth and final day at 299/5 with Dhananjay de Silva scoring 119 retired hurt, his third century in 11th test. Roshen Silva was unbeaten on 74 and Niroshan  Dickwella remained not out on 44. Captain Dinesh Chandimal, who had scored 164 in Sri Lanka’s first innings, was out for 36 in second innings. Former Captain Angelo Mathews, who had also scored century ( 111) in the first innings, made only 1 run in the second. Dhananjay de Silva had made only 1 run in the first innings while Roshen Silva was out for a duck.
