Patna : Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda was on December 16, 2017, sentenced to three-year imprisonment in a Coal scam case by a Delhi court. Koda was also slapped a fine of Rs 25 lakh by the court. But, Koda has expressed helplessness in depositing it saying his bank accounts were frozen and he would have to borrow the amount.

Koda is likely to move the Delhi High Court after reading the judgement and consulting his lawyers. Koda became the fourth chief minister of Jharkhand on September 14, 2006, and remained in office until his resignation on August 23, 2008.  After his conviction in this case, Koda now can’t contest elections.
