MI beat RCB by 5 wickets in 31st match of IPL-12

Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 wickets with one over to spare in the 31st match of IPL-12 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on April 15, 2019, late night, with all-rounder Hardika Pandya scoring an unbeaten 37 in 16 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes and openers : Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma ( captain) scoring 40 and 28 runs respectively. It was MI’s 16th win against RCB in the IPL history. MI bowler Lashith Malinga, who took 4/31, was declared Player of the Match.

MI had won the toss but opted to bowl, Batting first RCB had scored 171/7 in 20 overs with A B de Villers scoring 75 in 51 balls (run out) hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes and Moeen Ali scoring 50 in 32 balls hitting 1 four and 5 sixes. Captain Virat Kohli fell to fast bowler Jason Behrendorff for 8. Opener Parthiv Patel made 28 in 20 balls with 4 fours and 1 six.

Chasing a target of 172, MI made a rollicking start with openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma adding 70 runs for the 1st wicket. Rohit Sharma fell to spinner Moeen Ali for 28 in 19 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Quinton de Kock also fell to Moeen Ali for 40 in 26 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes making it 71/2. Suryakumar Yadav fell to spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for 29 in 23 balls hitting 2 fours and a six making it 129/4. Ishan Kishan (wk) scored 21 in 9 balls with 3 sixes. All-rounder Krunal Pandya fell to fast bowler Mohd Siraj for 11 making it 148/5 in 17.5 overs. MI scored 67 runs in power play.

Hardik Pandya hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in the 19th over bowled by Mohd Siraj, who conceded 22 run in that over. MI finished at 172/5 in 19 overs. It was MI’s  5th win ( 10 points)  in 8 matches in IPL-12.
