Ara : A middleage farmer Nand Ji Singh was killed with a sharpedged weapon by unidentified persons at village Kukuraha under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district around October 17, 2018, midnight. Police found the body on the outskirts of the village on October 18, 2018,  morning, and brought it over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem.

In protest, the villagers blocked the road near Bajrang Chowk under Agiaw Bazaar  police station on October 18 paralysing the movement of vehicles. They were raising logans against the Bhojpur district administration and demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased’s family and arrest of the miscreants at the earliest. A named FIR has been lodged with Agiaw Bazaar police station but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident.

SHO, Agiaw Bazaar police station, said that Nand Ji Singh, 58, son of Chandrama Singh of village Kukuraha, had gone to irrigate his field on October 17 evening. After irrigating his field, he was returning home around midnight the same day when some miscreants waylaid and killed him with a sharpedged weapon and escaped, the SHO said.
