Ara : Bhojpur police arrested four miscreants for demanding an extortion of Rs 10 lakh from a cloth merchant Irshad alias Achchhan of Khetadi Mohalla under Ara Town police station on January 3, 2019. They were sent to jail after interrogation.

SDPO, Ara, Pankaj Kumar, said that some miscreants had demanded Rs 10 lakh from a cloth merchant Irshad alias Achchhan of Khetadi Mohalla on January 3, 2019 with a threat of dire consequences if he failed to pay the amount to them. Irshad alias Achchhan lodged an FIR with Ara Town police station against some miscreants and demanded security for him.

Taking it seriously, Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar formed a police team under SDPO Pankaj Kumar. The police, following scientific methods, arrested Deepak from Pakadi under Nawada police station, Ara, who informed police that he had got a SIM lying on road and had given it to Danish of Pakadi locality. Police also arrested Danish from Pakadi, who admitted that he had taken the SIM from Deepak but later sold it to Belal of Rauza locality under Ara Town police station for Rs 10,000 and the amount was to be paid after the extortion amount was received. On his revelation, police arrested Belal and Gurfan from Rauza locality on January 7, 2019, and interrogated them.

The SDPO said that Belal and Gurfan confessed having demanded extortion amount from the merchant Irshad saying that the extortion was demanded at the behest of one of his employee, a close relative of Belal. He said that Belal had used the SIM for demanding extortion from Irshad.
