Muzaffarpur police recover 26.5 kg looted gold, 3 criminals arrested

Muzaffarpur : Police on February 10, 2019, recovered 26.5 kg of the 32 kg gold worth Rs 10 crore looted from Muzaffarpur office of Muthoot Finance Ltd, a gold financing company, under Sadar Police Station on February 6, 2019, by six bike borne armed criminals. Police also arrested three criminals : Subhash Kumar Jha, Alok Kumar, and Abhishekh Kumar in this connection. The criminals had also looted about Rs 2 lakh cash from the Muthoot Finance office located at Bhagwanpur Chowk, Muzaffarpur.

Police arrested Subhash Kumar Jha from village Shahpur Parra under Dalsingsarai police station in Samastipur district on February 10 and recovered 1.5 gold from his possession. Police arrested Alok Kumar from village Samasa under Naokothi police station in Begusarai district and on his revealation arrested Abhishekh Kumar from village Chakmuzahid under Mahua police station in Vaishali district and recovered a bag from his possession in which 25 kg looted gold was kept.

Senior SP, Muzaffarpur, Manoj Kumar, said that police were conducting raids at different places to recover the remaining 5.5 kg gold, about Rs 2 lakh cash, besides arms and vehicles of the criminals. He said police have identified all the 6 criminals involved in the gold and cash loot.

Muthoot Finance Ltd has announced a reward of Rs 30 lakh for Bihar police.
