New Zealand beat England by 12 runs in T20I at Wellington

Patna : New Zealand defeated England by 12 runs in the fourt match of the six-match T20I series on February 13, 2018, at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand, with opener Martin Guptil scoring 65 runs in 40 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes and Captain Kane Williamson making 72 in 46 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes.

England, who had already lost both their T20I matches of the tri-series against Australia played in Australia, won the toss but elected to bowl first. In a make or break match for both the sides, New Zealand, who too had lost to Australia in their first match in Australia, made 196/5 in 20 overs. For England, Mark Wood and Adil Rashid took two wickets each. Chris Jordan took one wicket.

In reply, England could score only 184/9 in 20 overs though Dawid Malan scored 59 runs in 40 balls hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes and opener Alex Hales made 47 in 24 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes in a valiant attempt to attain the target. Stand in Captain and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler was out for 1. James Vince was run out for 10 hitting a six while David Willey was run out for 21. Willey made 21 in 10 balls hitting 2 sixes.  For New Zealand, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi took two wickets each. Tim Southee took one wicket.

England have now lost all their three matches so far in the six-match tri-series, the first three of which were played in Australia. Australia won all their three-matches played in Australia. Australia have now 6 points while New Zealand have 2 points.
