Patna : With 2019 Lok Sabha polls just six months away, Janata Dal (United) has geared up to strengthen the party at grassroot level. The party held its state executive committee meeting at JD(U) National President and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s official residence, 1, Anne Marg, Patna, on September 16, 2018.

In a master stroke, the JD(U) on September 16 brought into the party fold noted poll strategist Prashant Kishore, 41, who had crafted poll campaign of the then Gujarat CM and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in 2014 LS polls and later worked for Nitish Kumar in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls. Prashant Kishore joined the JD(U) at the state executive committee meeting in the presence of CM Nitish Kumar. Prashant had recently said that he was excited to start his new innings. Prashant, a native of Buxar district, is son of a doctor. He may contest the LS polls.

The 4 hour long meeting took some major decisions regarding next Lok Sabha elections and formulated work plans for the party workers and leaders. It was decided at the meeting that the Government would continue its public welfare programmes and initiatives and even further implement them in the areas not yet covered.

Addressing the state executive committee members, Nitish said that the JD(U) is not a  ‘caste based’ but a ‘work-based’ party. He told the workers to be aware of their strength. Nitish also asked the party to appoint Booth level agents.

Nitish said that the party’s strength will increase in the Lok Sabha and it will come back with a huge majority in the Bihar Assembly. The meeting was chaired by Bihar JD(U) President Bashistha Narayan Singh, MP. JD(U) Secretary General K C Tyagi, National General Secretary (Organization) and leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha RCP Singh, Ministers Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh also addressed the meeting.
