Patna : As expected, the BJP on March 23, 2019, denied ticket to rebel party MP and actor Shtrughna Sinha from Patna Sahib parliamentary constituency in Bihar. Sinha had won the Patna Sahib twice from Patna Sahib but had become extremely very critical of PM Narendra Modi for the past few years and had even attended West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee’s Kolkata rally against the BJP a few weeks back. Union Law Minister and Rajya Sabha Member Ravi Shankar Prasad has replaced Sinha as the  BJP candidate from Patna Sahib.

The NDA comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP in Bihar announced its candidates for 39 out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar on March 22. The names of the NDA candidates were announced here by BJP National General Secretary and incharge, Bihar, Bhupendra Yadav.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who had won the Nawada seat in 2014 LS polls, has been shifted to Begusarai while Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will again contest from Purvi Champaran seat. Union Ministers : R K Singh, Ashwani Kumar Choubey, and Ram Kripal Yadav have again been fielded as BJP candiadtes from Ara, Buxar and Pataliputra  constituencies.

State Lok Janshakti Party president Pashupati Kumar Paras has replaced his elder brother and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan in Hajipur in Vaishali district. Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Kumar Paswan will be seeking re-election from Jamui. Ram Vilas Paswan is likely to get a Rajya Sabha ticket. Bhupendra Yadav said the candidate for Khagaria Lok Sabha seat, which would be contested by the LJP, would be announced shortly.

Ashok Yadav, a former MLA, has replaced his father Hukumdev Narain Yadav as the BJP candidate from Madhubani in North Bihar while Rama Devi has again been fielded from Sheohar. Ajay Nishad has again been re-nominated from Muzaffarpur and Dr Sanjay Jaiswal from Paschimi Champaran.

The BJP has fielded former MP Pradeep Kumar from Araria while Gopalji Thakur, a former MLA from Benipur, has been nominated from Darbhanga. The party has retained Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Saran and Janardan Singh Sigriwal from Maharajganj. Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai, MP,  has again been fielded from Ujiarpur while Chhedi Paswan has been retained from Sasaram.

The JD(U) has fielded Water Resources Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh from Munger and former Minister Baidyanath Mahto from Valmikinagar. Santosh Kushwaha and Kaushlendra Kumar have again been fielded from Purnia and Nalanda respectively.

The JD(U) has nominated Mehmood Ashraf from Kishanganj, Dr Varun Kumar from Sitamarhi, Dileshwar Kamat from Supaul, Rampreet Mandal from Jhanjharpur, Dulalchand Goswami from Katihar, Dr Alok Kumar Suman from Gopalganj, Ajay Kumar Mandal from Bhagalpur, Giridhari Yadav from Banka, Ms Kavita Singh from Siwan, Mahabali Singh from Karakat, Chandreshwar Prasad Chandravanshi from Jehanabad, Vijay Kumar Manjhi from Gaya, and Dinesh Chandra Yadav from Madhepura.

The LJP has fielded Veena Devi from Vaishali, Ramchandra Paswan from Samastipur, and Chandan Kumar from Nawada.
