Ara :A State Vigilance Investigation Bureau team from Patna on January 12, 2018, arrested an SI Umeshwar Kumar near Nawada police station, Ara, while accepting Rs 7,000 as bribe and took him to Patna.
SI Umeshwar Kumar had allegedly demanded Rs 7,000 from a Revenue Department employee, Santosh Kumar, of Anaith under Nawada police station. Santosh Kumar had lodged a complaint to the Vigilance Bureau in this connection. The officials of the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and a team reached Ara on January 12. Santosh Kumar talked to the SI and reached the spot along with the Vigilance team. As SI Umeshwar Kumar moved towards Shiva Hotel in front of Nawada Police Station and accepted Rs 7,000, the Vigilance team arrested him.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar had January 11 suspended an SI of Ara Muffassil police station Mohan for demanding bribe from a person.
