Aurangabad : An SI of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action ( COBRA), CRPF, was killed in an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) blast triggered by naxalites on in Natua Hill area in Aurangabad district, Bihar, on February 13, 2019, evening. Confirming the news, Aurangabad SP Satyaprakash, a 2011 batch IPS officer, the Naxalites triggered the IED blast around 5 pm on February 13. This led to a massive encounter between COBRA jawans and Naxalites, sources said.

The slain Cobra SI hailed from Lakhsisarai district. Police sources said that the jeep carrying the SI, COBRA, was blown up in the IED blast. It may be mentioned here that 10 COBRA jawans were killed in IED blasts triggered by Naxalites in Chakarbanda -Dumarinala forests of Aurangabad district in July, 2018.

COBRA is a specialised unit of CRPF having expertise  in guerrilla tactics and forest warfare. It was established in 2009 to combat Naxalites.
