Sindhu, Ying, Yamaguchi enter SF of All England Open Badminton

Patna : World Number 3 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sinhu, 22, India, defeated Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, 20-22, 21-18, 21-18, in 84 minutes in a tough three set encounter in the Women’s section of All England Open Badminton Tournament at Birmingham, UK, on March 16, 2018, to enter the semi-finals of the event. Okuhara is ranked 7th in the world. It will be Sindhu’s first appearance in the semi-finals of this tournament.

World Number 1 Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, entered the semi-finals defeating World Number 15 Aya Ohori, Japan, 21-12, 21-13, in the quarter-finals.

World Number 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, defeated World Number 4 and Olympic Gold Medalits Caroline Marin, Spain, 21-15, 21-18 to enter the semi-fianals where she will meet Sindhu. Yamaguchi had earlier in the day defeated Sayaka Sato, Japan, 18-21, 21-10, 21-12. Sakaya Sato is ranked 13th the world.
