Theft at former CM Abdul Ghafoor’s house at Gopalganj village

Patna : Property worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from the house of former chief minister late Abdul Ghafoor at village Sareya under Manjha police station in Gopalganj district on Deewali night on November 7, 2018. The thieves entered the house after breaking open the back door and stole kitchen goods, motor hand-pump, woolen clothes and other clothes worth Rs 2.50 lakh from there. The family members alleged that local police reached the village on November 8 afternoon though they were informed about the incident much earlier.

According to former CM’s daughter in-law Sahnawaz Begum, entire family stays at Patna. She said that family members were informed about the incident on phone by the villagers and they arrived on November 8 morning and found all the rooms open and many household goods lying scattered.

An FIR has been lodged with Manjha police station against unknown persons on the statement of Naseem Perwez, son in-law of Sahnawaz Begum. Late Ghafoor was chief minister of Bihar from July 2, 1973, to April 11, 1975. He died in July 2004. He was also a former Union Ministrer.

SHO, Manjha police station, Manish Kumar said that after getting information about the incident, police have started investigation into the incident. Gopalganj SP Rashid Zaman said that an FIR had been lodged and local police are taking action.

Later in the day, Sadar Inspector Ramsewak Yadav reached the spot and started investigation into the case. Yadav said that thieves broke open the back door and sneaked inside the house. A police team also sought information from family members about the theft.
