Ara : Some unidentified bike borne miscreants shot dead a shopkeeper and injured two others near Dharman Chowk about 50 meter away from Ara Town police station in Bhojpur district on December 6, 2018, afternoon, and escaped. The deceased was identified as Imran Khan, son of Allauddin Khan of Doodhkatora locality under Ara Town police station.

Police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Sra,  for post-mortem and admitted the injured there. Old enmity is said to be the reason behind the incident. Family members scuffled with police at the Sadar Hospital. ASP (Operations) Nitin Kumar along with police force reached there and admonished the protesters. All the businessmen closed their shops after the incident shutters and the area wore a deserted look. Police are conducting raids at all possible points to arrest the miscreants.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that some unidentified motorcycle borne armed miscreants attaked a shop at Shobha Shree Market under Ara Town police station and fired indiscriminately in which three persons: Imran Khan, his maternal uncle Aqil Khan, and Abdul Hasan, son of late Khushkadam Mian of Nazirganj under Ara Town police station, received bullet injuries but Imran Khan succumbed to his injuries on way to the Sadar Hospital, the SP said.

The SP said that Imran Khan’s family had purchased a piece of land and were living peacefully but a notorious criminal Khurshid Quraishi of Kazi Tola under Ara Police Station was eying for the plot and wanted to grab it. The SP said that Khurshid  along with some of his associates attacked Imran Khan and others in which Imram Khan was killed while two others were injured. He said some other names besides Khurshid Quraishi too have come to surface and arrest order has been given.

Aqil, maternal uncle of the deceased, said at the Sadar Hospital that Md Sohaib of Doodhkatora has seven shops in his name at Shobha Shree Market under Ara Town police station but Khurshid and his goons had locked three of them and an FIR was lodged with Ara Town Police Station earlier but police were reluctant to arrest him. He said Khurshid Quraishi, Gazi Khan, Shamsher, Abdula Quraishi, Raju Quraishi and others came on motorcycles on December 6 afternoon at the shop at Shobha Shree Market when Imran Khan, Md Sohaib and his elder brother Aqil were sitting at the shop and started firing indiscriminately. The miscreants fired at least 16 round and injured three persons and escaped but Imran Khan succumbed to his injuries later.

Resentment prevails among the family members of the deceased and they blamed police for the murder of Imran Khan. They accused the SHO, Ara Town police station, J P Singh in front of the Bhojpur SP saying that he was hand in glove with the miscreants. The SHO refuted all the charges and said that he performed his duty honestly.
