New Delhi : A portrait of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was unveiled at the Central Hall of Parliament on February 12, 2019, by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan, and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid glowing tributes to Atal Behari Vajpayee and said he will be forever in the Parliament’s Central Hall inspiring and blessing us. Remembering his versatility, values for humanity and affection for the people, the PM said it will take hours and hours to talk about the goodness of Atal Ji.

PM Modi stated that Atal Behari Vajpayee spent a large part of his political career in opposition but continued raising issues of public interest and never deviated from his ideology. Describing Atal Behari Vajpayee’s communication skills as unparalleled, the PM said he had a great sense of humour also.

The Prime Minister said that Vajpyee jee’s silence was as powerful as his speeches. “When to speak and when to keep quiet was his extraordinary quality,” he added.

About the legacy of Atal Behari Vajpuee, the PM said we can take away a key message from him that in democracy there are no enemies but political rivals only, according to a PIB release.
