Ara : Irate residents of Ara blocked Ara-Mohania NH 30, Ara-Buxar NH 84 and Ara- Sasaram main road near Bazaar Samiti under Nawada police station, Ara, on February 12, 2019, evening, after a speeding truck crushed to death a middleage woman. The protesters paralysed the movement of vehicles and also damaged the truck.
The deceased was identified as Dhaneshara Devi, 45, wife of Shiv Shankar Prasad alias Pappu Baitha of Araila Utterdaha under Tier police station in Bhojpur district. She lived in a rented house near Bhojpur SP’s residence at Ara. The people were raising slogans against the district administration and demanding arrest of the truck driver, besides a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to next of kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from the police officials. Later, police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem.
SHO, Nawada police station, Subodh Kumar, said that Dhaneshara Devi was coming to Ara along with her brother on motorcycle from her village Araila Uttardaha under Tier police station on February 12 evening. When she reached near Bazaar Samiti, a speeding truck dashed the motorcycle killing the woman on spot and injuring her brother.
